I feel that throughout my time peer reviewing in ENG 110, I was able to give positive feedback and help my fellow peers in establishing strong essays. I made sure to focus on the bigger pieces to an essay that are very important such as ones thesis and claim sentences. It is crucial that every paragraph has quotes that support the claims, and claims that support the thesis. Learning outcome 4 focuses on the ability to critique our own and others work by emphasizing on global revision. I made sure to hit all areas of revision throughout my peer’s essay, keying in to quotation errors, MLA errors, and even paragraph structure and placement. Attached below is a paper in which I peer reviewed. I made comments that focused on elaboration of ideas, as well as rewording questions that the writer can fix. I also made sure to include some positive comments, such as an idea that fit really well in a certain paragraph or an opinion that the writer stated in a good way. I believe that overall, I am a strong peer reviewer as I always try to look at one’s paper as a whole with an open mind. Reflecting on my peer review skills, I think that in the future I can work on making comments that will reflect upon each individual paragraph, possibly even asking the writer questions in order to get them to elaborate more.
